Pakistan PM Imran Khan arrives at Putrajaya

PUTRAJAYA : Malaysia has rolled out the red carpet for Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, who is on a two-day official visit to the country.

Imran Khan was given an official welcome at the Dataran Perdana where he was greeted on arrival by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad at 9.40am Wednesday (Nov 21).

He then inspected the guard of honour, mounted by the 1st battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment comprising 103 personnel and 3 officers.

Imran Khan was later introduced to members of the Cabinet and senior government officials.

This is Imran Khan’s inaugural visit to Malaysia since assuming his post in August.

Dr Mahathir and Imran Khan is expected to hold a four-eyed meeting followed by a bilateral meeting.

The two Prime Ministers will also witness the signing of agreement by the governments of Malaysia and Pakistan on the partial abolition of visa for travel between the two countries.

This will be followed by a joint press conference.

Dr Mahathir will host a lunch for Imran Khan at Seri Perdana.

In a statement, Wisma Putra said the visit underlines the significance and importance Malaysia attaches to its relationship with Pakistan. It will also be an opportunity for both leaders to exchange views on a range of global and regional issues of common concern.
