WZ Satu’s unit bags RM134m Gemas Johor Baru rail contract

KUALA LUMPUR: WZ Satu Bhd’s wholly owned subsidiary, WZS BinaRaya Sdn Bhd, has bagged a RM133.5 million subcontract works for the construction of bridges from Genuang to Paloh for the electrified double track project from Gemas to Johor Bahru from YTL-SIPP Joint Venture.

In a filing to Bursa Malaysia today, WZ Satu said the commencement date for the project is December 17, 2018 and the completion date is on or before May 17, 2020.

WZS BinaRaya’s scope of works covers from foundation to superstructure which includes bored piling work, casting pilecap, pier, cross head, precast beam, deck slab and associated works.

“The award is expected to contribute positively to the future earnings and net assets per share of the Group for the financial years ending August 31, 2019 to August 31, 2020,” it said.

According to analyst, the Gemas Johor Baru (JB) rail contract is the only mega rail contract left for 2019 after the cancellation and deferment of the East Coast Rail Line (ECRL), Mass Rapid Transit 3 (Circle Line) and KL-Singapore High speed Rail (HSR). – ends
