Sultan: Exco must work for betterment of the state
JOHOR BARU: Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar has sent out a message to the 10 newly sworn-in state executive councillors.The Johor Ruler wants them to work closely with Mentri Besar Datuk Dr Sahruddin Jamal.
In a short speech at the ceremony which took place at Istana Bukit Serene, the Sultan started by congratulating the three newly minted exco members.
“Congratulations to all new members of the council and to all council members, my message today is, give your cooperation to the Mentri Besar for the betterment of the state and its economy,” said Sultan Ibrahim.
A video clip of the swearing-in ceremony including Sultan Ibrahim’s message was posted on the royal’s official Facebook page.
Dr Sahruddin later said he had reminded his exco team to reduce politicking and carry out their duties with honesty and integrity.
“They have been entrusted (with the responsibilities) and now is the time to work as the rakyat have put high hopes on what we have promised them,” he said in a press conference at Kota Iskandar.
He also thanked former exco members Tan Hong Pin and Mazlan Bujang for their contributions.
Dr Sahruddin, who is the assemblyman for Bukit Kepong, holds the portfolios of Natural Resources, Administration, Finance, Planning and Economic Development; Aminolhuda Hassan (Parit Yaani) – Education, Human Resources, Science and Technology; Dzulkefly Ahmad (Kota Iskandar) – Housing, Communications and Multimedia; Liow Cai Tung (Johor Jaya) – Tourism and Women, Family and Community Development; and Jimmy Puah Wee Tse (Bukit Batu) – International Trade, Investments and Utilities.
Mohd Khuzzan Abu Bakar who is Semerah assemblyman holds the portfolios of Health, Culture and Heritage; Dr S. Ramakrishnan (Bekok) – Unity, Domestic Trade and Consumerism; Sheikh Umar Bagharib Ali (Paloh) – Youth, Sports, Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives; Tosrin Jarvanthi (Bukit Permai) – Islamic Religious Affairs, Agriculture and Rural Development; Tan Chen Choon (Jementah) – Local Government, Urban Wellbeing and Environment; and Mohd Solihan Badri (Tenang) – Works, Transport and Infrastructure.
