RM914 fine for discarding a rubber band
A Singaporean was fined SGD$300 (RM914) for throwing a rubber band on the street in the city state, reported China Press.
A picture of the summons was posted on the Facebook page All Singapore Stuff on Sunday, triggering public anger.
The summons was reportedly issued at the Jurong East Central One along with remarks that the rubber band was thrown at a “public place”, an offence under the Environmental Public Health Act (Chapter 95).
People left comments on post, expressing their incredulity.
“If I drop a hair on the floor, I will be issued a ticket. Singapore law is a joke,” one wrote.
Another man joked that he would like to fart in front of an enforcement officer and see if he would be fined for polluting the air.
“I will have to be careful when I eat a biscuit next time. I’m worried that I will be fined if my crumbs fall,” another commented.

A row broke out between the two after she confronted her friend for mistakenly wearing her slippers and refusing to take them off.
However, other classmates managed to step in and stop the quarrel from escalating.
A few days later at a sports event, the girl stabbed her classmate with a knife.
The condition of the classmate, who was rushed to the hospital immediately after the stabbing, was said to be stable.
It is learnt that the victim’s father asked for 100,000 yuan (RM60,720) in compensation from the girl’s family.
However, the girl’s parents said she was also a victim and asked for a report on the injuries before handing over any money.
