Samsung Galaxy Tab A tablet costs RM599

Samsung Malaysia Electronics rolls out a light and affordable tablet, the Galaxy Tab A, for just RM599.

To fit an 8in display with 1,280 x 800-pixel resolution and a 16:10 screen ratio, the company had to remove the Home button and move the logo to the back.

It weighs 347g – roughly the weight of two smartphones – and measures 210 x 124.4 x 8mm but includes a sizeable 5,100mAh battery.

Powered by Android 9 Pie with One UI, the tablet has 2GB RAM, 32GB storage and a microSD card slot that supports up to 512GB more memory.

“At an affordable price, users can own the Galaxy Tab A that promises brilliant performance. It enhances users’ tablet experience with longer battery life, faster and smoother performance speed, as well as extra storage for more content,” Samsung said in a press release.

The One UI allows users to have a two-column layout that lets them view more content and multitask easily.

The Galaxy Tab A has an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. It also has a 3.5mm jack and stereo speakers at the bottom.

It comes with Samsung Kids Home feature which offers kid-friendly content natively, and Parental Control for monitoring usage and play time.

The tablet is available in Black and Silver.
