Nine arrested in Muar with RM1.75mil in drugs

JOHOR BARU: Police arrested nine men, including a foreigner, and seized various drugs worth RM1.75mil in four raids in Muar.

Johor police chief Comm Datuk Mohd Kamaruddin Md Din said the drugs seized could fuel the habit of some 72,000 addicts.

He said in the first raid, conducted on Tuesday, police arrested a 37-year-old man at a jetty at Parit Sakai Laut in Muar.

“An investigation led us to 10,800 ecstasy pills, 8.17kg of syabu, 4,970 Eramin 5 pills worth RM753,250.

“At the same time, we arrested a 46-year-old Indonesian man and a 44-year-old man in Taman Melati and seized 10,962 ecstasy pills and 11 grams of syabu worth RM275,150.

“We believe they are from the same drug ring,” he told a news conference here yesterday.

Comm Mohd Kamaruddin said in an unrelated case, police raided a premises at Setia Tropika here on Friday where five men, aged between 20 and 28, were arrested and 3,098g of syabu worth RM154,900 was seized.

He said later on the same day, police detained a 27-year-old man in Taman Adda Heights and seized 11,400g of syabu worth RM570,000.

He said the suspects were being remanded to assist with investigations.
