Apple will be present at the CES tech conference for the first time in 28 years

Bloomberg is reporting that Apple will partake in a roundtable discussion at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) technology conference in Las Vegas; the event will mark the first time the company has officially been at the show in 28 years.

For the first time since 1992, Apple will be officially present at the upcoming CES. While the company is not expected to be displaying any new products, Bloomberg reported that Apple will be participating in a roundtable discussion to talk about consumer privacy.

Apple’s senior director of privacy Jane Horvath will be a member of the Chief Privacy Officer Roundtable and will be speaking with executives from Facebook, Procter & Gamble, and a commissioner from the Federal Trade Commission. The topics at hand will include “how companies build privacy at scale, regulation and consumer demands.”

Though the company has not been officially present over the years to show off tech or discuss the company, Apple has doubtlessly influenced the technology that is annually displayed.

Various companies have shown products with obvious design inspiration from Apple’s portfolio while others, like Samsung and LG, have announced that devices like their TVs can stream Apple video content. Also, to scope out the competition and browse technological trends in the industry, Apple managers themselves have been visitors at the trade show.

In just a few weeks, Apple is returning to the trade show in an official fashion. The roundtable discussion will take place on January 7 in Las Vegas at CES 2020. – AFP Relaxnews
