#TECH: App to support domestic tourism

KUALA LUMPUR: A local travel startup, Tourplus Technology Sdn Bhd (Tourplus), has created an app aimed to help thousands of local businesses get more domestic tourists and customers currently affected by the pandemic.

Called Tourplus, the app provides an online marketplace for travellers, giving them personalised itineraries, linking travellers to local.

“The Covid-19 pandemic has heavily affected the tourism industry. However, from a recent survey conducted by Tourism Malaysia it was found that a majority of respondents prefer to travel domestically than overseas post MCO. It has identified the domestic market as the ‘key’ factor for the industry to recover immediately,” said Tourplus’ founder and CEO, Rickson Goh.

“The App offers a new redesigned user interface, with features that can truly help you while you travel. We are targeting a download of 20,000 users within the first quarter of 2021 and a revenue increase of at least 100 percent compared to the first quarter of this year,” he said.

Features

The app’s newly-designed Discover function, allows users to check on photos or video reviews by other tourists, which will be able to give them an idea about the quality of a restaurant and what are on the menu.

Besides that, it has the capability to guide users to a location on the App itself without having to search for it via other Apps like Google Maps or Waze.

The App is also equipped with an Advance Recommendation System to predict users’ preference and help them make the decision by showing the most relevant restaurant they are likely to go.

It has a function that allows a review to be made so that the experiences can be shared with 3 easy steps.

In conjunction with the launch, Tourplus also launched a RM1,000 Cashback campaign for users of the Touplus app.

It is a five-month campaign that kicks off from Nov 16, 2020 to March 31, 2021.

What users need to do is to capture their holiday moment, share their experience and send in a review.
