KUALA LUMPUR (July 26): Based on corporate announcements and news flow today, companies in focus on Tuesday (July 27) may include: CIMB Group Holdings Bhd, Unisem (M) Bhd, T7 Global Bhd, Sarawak Consolidated Industries Bhd (SCIB), Kejuruteraan Asastera Bhd (KAB), British American Tobacco (Malaysia) Bhd (BAT), Majuperak Holdings Bhd, IGB Real Estate Investment Trust (IGB REIT), Mah Sing Group Bhd, RHB Investment Bank Bhd, Serba Dinamik Holdings Bhd, BCM Alliance Bhd, Dagang Nexchange Bhd (DNeX), YBS International Bhd, AirAsia Group Bhd and UMW Holdings Bhd.

CIMB Group Holdings Bhd‘s subsidiary CIMB Bank Bhd has proposed to issue HK$640 million (about RM348 million) worth of bonds under CIMB Bank’s US$5 billion Euro Medium Term Note (EMTN) programme. In a filing with Bank Negara Malaysia’s (BNM) Fully Automated System for Issuing/Tendering (FAST) website, CIMB Investment Bank Bhd, which is facilitating the bond sale, said CIMB Bank’s HK$640 million scheme pays investors an interest rate of 1.12% a year. CIMB Investment Bank said the HK$640 million scheme, which will be issued tomorrow (July 27), will mature on July 17, 2026.

Unisem (M) Bhd, a provider of semiconductor assembly and test services, has temporarily suspended operations of its Ipoh plant in Kawasan Perindustrian Pulai Jaya from July 25, in line with the implementation of the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) by the government. On July 24, the National Security Council had imposed the EMCO on Bandar Pulai Jaya from July 26 to Aug 8, in which Unisem’s plant is situated.

Energy solutions provider T7 Global Bhd has bagged a contract to provide mini remotely operated vehicle (ROV) underwater services for Pan-Malaysia petroleum arrangement contractors – Package B. T7 Global said its wholly-owned subsidiary Tanjung Offshore Services Sdn Bhd had on July 12 received a letter of award from Pioneer Pegasus Sdn Bhd, which is a Pan-Malaysia contract holder. “The value of the award is based on the prices stipulated in the award. The contract is effective July 12 until completion of the platform inspection campaign by the end of 2022,” it added.

KPMG PLT has resigned from its role as external auditor of Sarawak Consolidated Industries Bhd (SCIB), the largest maker of precast concrete products in Sarawak, effective immediately. SCIB said it had received a notice in writing dated July 23 from KPMG on its resignation as the auditor of the company with immediate effect.

Electrical and mechanical engineering services provider Kejuruteraan Asastera Bhd (KAB)’s wholly-owned subsidiary KAB Smart Solar Energy Sdn Bhd (KSSE) has received a letter of award (LoA) from Mydin Wholesale Emporium Sdn Bhd and has inked a principal term sheet agreement with FT Hose & Hose Sdn Bhd to install a total of 4,971-kilowatt peak (kWp) solar systems. In a statement today, KAB said the LoA from Mydin Wholesale Emporium concerns the installation of a grid connection photovoltaic solar system with an estimated capacity of 4,000 kWp for Mydin Mall Tunjong in Kelantan.

British American Tobacco (Malaysia) Bhd’s (BAT) share price settled up about 2% during Bursa Malaysia’s afternoon break today, post the company’s declaration of a tax-free 24 sen dividend a share on Friday (July 23), as it reported a higher second-quarter net profit of RM71.62 million, from RM54.61 million a year earlier. The cigarette manufacturer had said in filings with Bursa on Friday that its revenue had risen to RM595.8 million for the second quarter ended June 30, 2021 (2QFY21), from RM546.59 million a year earlier.

Property and construction outfit Majuperak Holdings Bhd, the 50.11%-owned associate of Perak State Development Corp (PSDC), will be conducting the purchase of Covid vaccines for the Perak Vaccine Programme (PVP) on behalf of PSDC. PSDC has been granted authority by the state government to lead the purchase of vaccines for the PVP. In a statement today, Majuperak said the group is taking the lead to ensure consistent and authorised supply of vaccines to fulfill the state’s need for greater supply. This follows the federal government’s recent approval of state governments and the private sector to purchase these vaccines.

IGB Real Estate Investment Trust (IGB REIT) saw its net property income (NPI) rise by 69% to RM63.14 million in the second quarter ended June 30, 2021 (2QFY21), from RM37.36 million a year ago, underpinned by higher rental support provided to tenants. The trust said its quarterly revenue surged by 37% to RM84.92 million, from RM61.98 million in 2QFY20. IGB REIT also declared an interim income distribution per unit of 1.35 sen, payable on Aug 30.

Mah Sing Group Bhd is targeting to achieve a fully vaccinated workforce by next month, as the vaccination effort under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK) continues being ramped up by the government. To date, 80% of Mah Sing’s employees have received at least the first dose of vaccination.

RHB Investment Bank Bhd‘s subsidiary PT RHB Sekuritas Indonesia is disposing of its investment management services to Allianz Global Investors Asia Pacific Ltd (AllianzGI) and PT Asuransi Allianz Life Indonesia. In a statement today, RHB Banking Group said RHB Sekuritas Indonesia will sell its entire 98.62% equity interest and 1% equity interest in PT RHB Asset Management Indonesia (RHBAMI) to AllianzGI and Allianz Life Indonesia respectively. However, it did not disclose the transaction price. It said RHB Sekuritas Indonesia has entered into a conditional share purchase agreement (SPA) with AllianzGI and Allianz Life Indonesia for the proposed disposal of RHBAMI.

Serba Dinamik Holdings Bhd has nominated Nexia SSY PLTS as its new external auditor for the financial year ended June 30, 2021, following the resignation of KPMG PLT last month. In a statement, Serba Dinamik said the appointment will be subject to professional clearance from KPMG, in accordance with Section 320 By-Law of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA), following which further announcements will be made. It said the nomination was made based on the criteria set by the board, in line with legislations such as the Companies Act 2016, Capital Markets and Services Act 2007 (Amendment 2012), Bursa Malaysia’s Listing Requirements, as well as the Malaysian Code on Corporate Governance (MCCG), and the By-Laws (on Professional Ethics, Conduct and practice) by the MIA.

BCM Alliance Bhd, which distributes commercial laundry equipment and medical devices, is teaming up with Hong Kong-based rLoop Ltd to manufacture and assemble virus attenuation devices using photon-mediated electrons and emitters under rLoop’s own brand name “rGuard”. BCM Alliance said its wholly-owned subsidiary BC Medicare Sdn Bhd has entered into a memorandum of understanding with rLoop on the proposed project.

Dagang Nexchange Bhd (DNeX) has completed its acquisition of 60% equity interest in SilTerra Malaysia Sdn Bhd (SilTerra) from Khazanah Nasional Bhd. Post acquisition, DNeX is now the majority shareholder of SilTerra.

YBS International Bhd, which engages in precision engineering and precision injection moulding services, said its annual report for the financial year ended March 31, 2021 (FY21) will be issued one month later, that is by Aug 31. It said the extension of time for the issuance of its FY21 annual report is due to disruption in its service provider’s printer and mailer operations for the distribution of its annual report, while also pending the service provider’s engagement for its virtual annual general meeting.

AirAsia Group Bhd’s application to extend the deadline of its private placement by five months has been approved by Bursa Malaysia, following submission of the application last Monday (July 19). AirAsia is seeking extension to complete the private placement of the remaining 198.18 million shares it has yet to issue.

UMW Holdings Bhd is expecting minimal sales for UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) and Perodua vehicles in July, amid the prolonged national lockdown. In a statement today, the group said the ongoing Full Movement Control Order 3.0 has adversely impacted the domestic automotive sector, with only 1,921 units sold in June.
