Johor Ruler: Give MB full support
JOHOR BARU: All state assemblymen should give their full support to the new mentri besar and his state leadership instead of creating trouble or rifts in the government, says Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar.
The Johor Ruler also reminded all 56 state assemblymen to discharge their duties honestly and sincerely.
“It is important to always put the people and state’s interests above self and your political party,” he said at the opening of the state assembly here yesterday.
“Even the opposition has to play its part in ensuring all government programmes benefit the public and are done correctly and in proper order.”
On the tabling of new enactments, Sultan Ibrahim called on the assemblymen to go through them in detail and come up with improvements of the existing laws.
“Each assemblyman should know the background and reasons for the formation of the enactments,” he said.
He urged the assemblymen to refrain from talking about political issues or sensitive matters with regard to race and religion during their debates at the assembly.
He also said it had already been a year since Pakatan Harapan came to power in the state and during that time, several major things had happened as they tried to administer the state.
“As the ruler, I will always observe and give my advice to ensure the state’s administration is good, smooth and well planned,” he said.
On investments, Sultan Ibrahim hoped the state government would formulate consistent policies and attract long-term investors to Johor.
He also advised the state government to be prudent in its spending and always ensure there was surplus income each year.
“This surplus will help during bad times.
“We should never spend more than the income that we receive,” he said.
