Pavilion REIT malls offer non-essential operators 14-day free rental

KUALA LUMPUR (March 25): The management of Pavilion Real Estate Investment Trust’s (Pavilion REIT) malls has exempted its business and retail tenants in non-essential services and supplies from paying rent throughout the 14-day Movement Control Order (MCO) which ends on March 31.

It acknowledged with deep concern the potential business impact of the MCO on its retailers, particularly those in the non-essential category, as they are not allowed to conduct their usual business.

“In full support of the government in enforcing MCO as a national priority, the malls remain partially open to serve the community by providing essential services and supplies such as supermarkets, pharmacies, convenience stores and F&B outlets (delivery and takeaway),” it said in a statement.

Pavilion REIT also extended the 14-day rent-free gesture to its tenants at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, Pavilion Elite, Da Men Mall and Intermark Mall.

It said the company undertook proactive and stringent measures despite incurring additional expenses in the wake of COVID-19 to ensure the health and safety of the community.
