MCE, MARii tie up to develop intelligent transport system, auto tech systems

KUALA LUMPUR (June 9): MCE Holdings Bhd’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Multi-code Electronics Industries (M) Bhd (MCEIB), has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Malaysia Automotive Robotics & IoT Instutute (MARii) to collaborate on the development of the Malaysian Intelligent Transport System and other automotive technological systems that are in line with the National Automotive Policy 2020.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, MCE said the collaboration also included the development of various technological components that enable autonomous driving and other advanced driving capabilities for automotive and non-automotive application, namely the agricultural and consumer sectors.

The technological components are camera, sensor, light detection and ranging, radio detection and ranging, recorder, and other electronic and mechatronic components consisting of Advanced Driver Assistance System, automatic parking, and all kind of autonomous technology module and system.

“The collaboration also covers the development of various automotive technological systems and components that include functional switches, electronic control modules, digital meter cluster, and other components that are deemed crucial and strategic in the promotion of local industrial technological enhancement,” it said.

Under the MoU, MCEIB will design, develop, manufacture and supply the relevant technologies that are adopted in autonomous driver and other advanced driving capabilities and also to design and supply functional switches, electronic control modules, digital meter cluster and other components that are electronics and mechatronics in nature.

Meanwhile, MARii will provide the infrastructure and platform as a service (PaaS) and to promote MCEIB as the preferred vendor for the commercialisation and implementation of such system and technologies to the automotive and non-automotive industries.

MCE said the MoU would be beneficial and would enhance MCEIB’s position and standing in the industry and enable the latter to play a leading role as the preferred vendor for these technological components to be developed which is in the best interest of the group.
