AirAsia implements GE Aviation’s network operations platform to reduce flight disruption impact

KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 16): AirAsia Group Bhd is implementing GE Aviation’s Network Operations Insights (NOI) platform across the budget airline’s operations to help reduce flight disruption impact and save cost.

In a joint statement yesterday by AirAsia and GE Aviation, AirAsia group chief operations officer (COO) Javed Malik said the group remains committed to providing the very best in terms of safe, affordable and on-time services.

“Now more than ever, it’s important that we further improve our digital capabilities to deliver an enhanced customer experience on the ground and in the air,” Javed said.

According to the statement, NOI highlights the impact and cost of disruption, hence enabling airline operations managers to make data-driven decisions as operations change in real time.

“Before NOI, obtaining data from multiple systems was very manual and impractical. Now, live views quantify the impact of operational disruption on passengers, the crew, cost and revenue. Managers can run what-if simulations of cancellations, delays or downgrades to assess options, and they can review disruption event history to identify potential process improvements,” the statement said.

On Bursa Malaysia today, AirAsia shares were traded unchanged at 59 sen at 11.04am, with a market capitalisation of about RM1.97 billion. The stock saw some 3.58 million shares traded.
