Affin Bank wins accolades for excellence in SME banking
KUALA LUMPUR: Affin Bank Bhd is named the winner for excellence in SME banking at the 11th Retail Banker International (RBI) Asia Trailblazer Awards 2020.
Affin Bank is also recognised in the category of “Highly Commended for Dynamic Third-Party Collaboration for its Start-Up Banking Initiative and SMEColony”.
The “trailblazer” awards recognise the most outstanding and innovative institutions, brought together to highlight the initiatives developed by the best of the best in the retail banking industry within the region.
Affin Bank said its recently-upgraded SMEColony is a multi-award-winning mobile app that is available for download on Apple App Store, Google Play Store and Huawei App Gallery.
It is accessible to the public at no cost or membership sign-up.
SMEColony serves as a unique one-stop resource and reference platform tailored for small SMEs to find the right solutions.
Affin Bank president and group chief executive officer Datuk Wan Razly Abdullah said the recognitions from RBI Asia were an acknowledgement of the bank’s determination to cater for the start-ups community, which is one of the most robust segments of the economy in Malaysia.
“Affin Bank also takes the lead in nurturing these companies as they grow to become the Bank’s organic long-term customer base.”
“Under this initiative, Affin Bank has developed SMEColony, the first SME community-centric platform, as a comprehensive digital engagement tool in fulfilling SME needs through an inclusive collaboration between our partners from the public and private sectors as well as the SME community.

Affin Bank’s Start-Up Banking Initiative was recently awarded Start-Up Banking Initiative of the Year – Malaysia by Asian Banking & Finance (ABF) Retail Banking Awards 2020, while SMEColony received its second consecutive win in the Malaysia Technology Excellence Awards 2020 in September.
