JB hit by flash floods

JOHOR BARU: A heavy downpour and strong winds has caused flash floods in several parts in the city centre here.

The rain, which started at around 2.15pm on Monday (March 11), caused water levels to increase rapidly at major roads, resulting in traffic congestion.

A Malaysia Civil Defence Force spokesman said that flash floods hit several areas such as Jalan Sukun, Jalan Limau Kasturi, Jalan Bebetak, Jalan Limau Purut, and Kampung Pasir near Tampoi here.

When asked if there were any affected victims and if a relief centre would be opened, the spokesperson said not at the present moment.

However, the situation has since improved after the rain stopped at around 4pm, and floodwaters have since subsided.
