Dr M: Johor Sultan did not choose new exco members

PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said the Sultan of Johor was not involved in choosing the new Johor executive councillors.

“The Sultan has no influence,” said Dr Mahathir when asked on the matter after opening the Orang Asli Convention at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre yesterday.

Asked if the changes in the exco line-up were decided by the state Pakatan Harapan leadership, Dr Mahathir, who is Pakatan chairman, merely replied: “I suppose it is.”

Johor has three new state executive council members – Tosrin Jarvanthi and Mohd Solihan Badri from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia and DAP’s Tan Chen Choon.

The reshuffle followed the appointment of Datuk Dr Sahruddin Jamal, who took over the Mentri Besar post from Datuk Osman Sapian who had resigned from the post on April 8.

The Facebook account of Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar yesterday carried a post on the 10 Johor state executive councillors, including three new faces, who were sworn in before the Ruler.
