Media Prima strengthens collaboration with Sarawak government

PETRA JAYA: Media Prima Bhd is looking into more collaborations with the Sarawak government in various aspects beneficial to the people in the state.

Its group chairman Datuk Dr Syed Hussian Aljunid said the company has been working with a local news publisher SV News Sdn Bhd since last year to embark on a strategic nexus to enhance media services and content in Sarawak.

The group, he said, have already begun the distribution of Berita Harian’s education content, BH Didik, BH Minda and BH Skor, in Suara Sarawak; and the New Straits Times’ education content NST School Times, in New Sarawak Tribune.

“We are now planning on how to reach out to the schools or distribute the content to students.

“Besides, there are a few more potential projects that we will discuss further during our follow-up meetings with the state government,” he told the reporters after paying a courtesy call to the Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Abang Openg at Wisma Bapa here today.

“Overall, I would say the outcome of today’s meeting is positive and successful. The upcoming collaboration will benefit both parties” he added.

As the country’s leading fully-integrated media group, Syed Hussian said Media Prima had also collaborated with Universiti Sarawak Malaysia (Unimas) for the Kuala Lumpur Drama Festival 2019 (Sarawak Version) last year.

“The programme was to provide exposure to the entertainment industry and an overview of how it works.

“We believe that there are many great talents and potential actors and actresses in Sarawak as well.”
