Aspire Flagship’s online CRA identifies issues in obtaining halal certification

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 19 — An online Halal Certification Readiness Assessment (CRA), developed by Aspire Flagship Sdn Bhd under the Halal International Selangor (HIS) initiative, is able to identify cumbersome issues in obtaining halal certification.

HIS, in a statement today, said the CRA system enables users to make their own assessments via its website and get immediate results.

“Through the CRA, Malaysian halal certificate applicants will be able to find out the requirements that they need to understand and fulfill before applying for the certification.

“This is because the evaluation covers the entire halal supply chain from the supply of raw material to end products,” HIS said, adding that this could help reduce halal non-compliance issues.

HIS said the CRA could also provide information based on several parameters evaluated such as compliance with the Malaysian Halal Standards, the Malaysian Halal Certification Procedure Manual, halal sources and halal storage of raw materials.

In addition, the premises and equipment used, as well as the production process such as halal packaging, labelling, storage, and control points can also be evaluated.

“The CRA not only assist halal certificate applicants in Malaysia, but also organisations by providing guidance to the halal industry to identify loopholes so that effective solutions can be given priority through training and advisory services by halal consultants.

“Last year, HIS cooperated with the Selangor Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) by holding a programme for Selangor’s entrepreneurs under the auspices of the agency,” HIS said.

It said MARA could identify the improvements needed to be taken by these entrepreneurs based on the CRA assessments.
