Covid-19 bill tabled in Dewan Rakyat

KUALA LUMPUR: A bill to address the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic was tabled in the Dewan Rakyat today.

The Temporary Measures for Government Financing Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) Bill 2020 was tabled for first reading by Deputy Finance Minister II Mohd Shahar Abdullah.

If passed, the bill would see the establishment, application and yearly statement of the Covid-19 Fund.

It among others raises the amount of funding that may be received under the Government Funding Act 1983 and also the total ceiling from the current 55 to 60 per cent of the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
