#TECH: Lazada steps up support for frontliners and Malaysians in need

KUALA LUMPUR: Lazada Malaysia is stepping up its efforts to support those in need through their Stronger Together initiative via LazadaForGood, Lazada’s digital giving platform.

The initiative, which runs from July 1 until July 31, features a variety of aid from groceries and essentials, meals for the needy, support for children and our frontliners, and even food and essential items for animal shelters in collaboration with top brands on the Lazada platform and their partnered non-governmental organisations (NGOs).

“We are one with the community in the intense battle to help and support those in need during these challenging times. We are committed to doing everything we can to make a difference, and lend our platform to NGOs, sellers and Malaysians to lean on each other and overcome hardships together as a community,” said Lazada Malaysia’s chief executive officer, Magnus Ekbom.

If you are looking for a way to help your fellow Malaysians and contribute to your community, it can be done by:

⦁Visiting the LazadaForGood page: https://s.lazada.com.my/s.2DdkG

⦁Add donation items or amounts to your cart.

⦁Check out and pay for the items you have selected. (Note: Donations are to be made without any combination of physical goods as these items are digital in checkout.)

⦁Once your donation is received, the participating brand will distribute the donated products and funds to NGOs.

Donate groceries and essentials to vulnerable Malaysians

Generous grocers have put together special food packages and survival boxes you can purchase which will be delivered right to selected NGOs such as The Lost Food Project, MyFundAction, MRCS and MERCY Malaysia who will distribute them to Malaysians in need on your behalf. Essentials and groceries in these packages include white rice, cooking oil, dry rations, canned food, baby milk formula and diapers.

Feed entire communities and families

Several NGOs in Malaysia have been actively providing freshly cooked meals and food baskets for those who need it most. They have curated special food baskets where you can feed 500 people with just RM100 or two families for a month with RM500. Your donation will certainly make a difference.

Provide additional support for NGOs

In addition to food and essential items support for the underserved, NGOs in Malaysia are also collecting monetary aid which will be used for ambulance services, PPE suits for frontliners, medical supplies and other areas that need some relief.

Show appreciation and support to dedicated frontliners for under RM5

Our dedicated frontliners and volunteers have been working tirelessly to battle the pandemic and keep us safe. Despite being exhausted from doing their best, they continue to brave it out for the rest of Malaysia. Take this opportunity to bring cheer and spread positivity to those doing what they can to help contain the virus as Lazada’s Appreciating The Frontliners initiative has been extended to the end of July. Your purchase will be donated to LazadaForGood’s partnered NGOs.

Give love to furry friends

Local animal shelters have been struggling to make ends meet due to a drastic drop in donations. On top of that, since the pandemic last year, there has been an increase in cases of pets being abandoned as families can no longer afford to feed and care for them.

For animal lovers who are unable to adopt but are still keen on contributing to their wellbeing, Lazada has got you covered. Through partner pet supplies stores on Lazada, you can now purchase digital vouchers for pet food which will be delivered to several animal shelters such as My Forever Doggo, Malaysia Independent Animal Rescue and Second Chance Animal Shelter.

Since launched in March last year, LazadaForGood has facilitated aid to the underprivileged and frontliners with over RM700,000 donations and support raised to date for various Covid-19 related causes.
