Protect yourself and your accounts against fraud

Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), financial institutions or any such other person / organizations / authorities does not send emails or SMSes or make telephone calls asking you to deposit money into their accounts to get a large sum of money to your account for the purpose of investigation in relation to money laundering. Never fall victim to such fraud.

 

Do not respond to or click on links and icons from unknown senders offering you a huge sum of money and asking for a fee to initiate the transfer. Delete these emails immediately and lodge a report to the relevant authorities and Citibank Berhad.

 

Do not send any money as an initial deposit / commission / transfer fee to anyone for any offer made in the name of Bank Negara Malaysia or any other reputable organization as they would not request for such money. For avoidance of doubt, contact CitiPhone should you require more information.

Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) or any financial institutions would never approach individuals to obtain information on their credit/debit card or banking account particulars. If someone claiming to be from your banking service provider calls you and asks for these confidential information, please end the call immediately.

 

Do not disclose any confidential information by telephone, emails or SMS especially if you are unable to identify the sender. If you suspect that your identity has been used to open a banking account or apply for a credit facility, please call or visit the financial institution and lodge a report immediately.

 

Do not share your online banking details such as Username, Password, Credit / Debit Card details, One-Time PIN (OTP), ATM PIN, Telephone PIN (T-PIN) with anyone over the phone, email or SMS even if they claim to be from Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), any financial institution, or reputable organizations.

 

Never get lured by attractive offers claiming that “you have won the lottery” even if they claim to be from Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), any financial institution, or reputable organizations.
