Tamil school girls win gold at world science competition

Three girls from SJK (T) Jenjarom added another victory to the string of successes by Tamil school students in international competitions, Tamil Nesan reported.

Sruthi Suresh, Thivyasri Chandra­sekaran and Kirthanisha Siva­kumar from the Selangor school won gold medals at the 43rd International Science and Innova­tion Competition that took place in Zagreb, Croatia.

They presented a new tool to cook and drain rice more effectively at the competition held between Nov 14 and 17.

The girls who are still in Croatia made their school and community proud, Kuala Langat MP Dr Xavier Jeyakumar said.

School headmaster K. Ganesan congratulated the girls and teachers Jeyaletchumi Karuppiah and Punitha Subramaniam who helped prepare and accompany them to the competition.

“The acclaim achieved by many Tamil school students shows that they are capable of achieving success if given the right opportunities and coaching,” said Dr Xavier.
