Famous faces help spread kindness and become role models

PETALING JAYA: The student-driven #StandTogether movement has resonated deeply with a host of top Malaysian celebrities and opinion leaders, many of whom volunteered to return to their schools to spread the message of kindness, and visit other participating schools as well.

Celebrities including Lisa Surihani, Harith Iskander, Arwind Kumar, Jinnyboy, Jenn Chia, Nik Qistina, Rabbit Mac and Chef Wan have all taken time to visit schools over the past month, in states from Penang to Sabah.

“I couldn’t believe that we were getting a visit from a celebrity, since it has never happened to a small school like ours. After my workmates heard that a celebrity was coming, we were even more determined to work harder,” said SMK Kubu Gajah student Muhammad Muqri Daman Huri, 16.

SMK Kubu Gajah received a celebrity visit after its “Kindness Project” was named as one of the Top 10 finalists of the #StandTogether Competition.

“It was a good feeling to see how the students had gone out of their way to take on these projects for National Kindness Week,” said Harith during a visit to another

Top 10 school, Sri KDU Secondary School.

“I got the feeling that most of the students were truly engaged in it, and that’s a good sign for the future of this country.”

SP Setia CEO Datuk Khor Chap Jen himself visited his alma mater in Parit Buntar, where he said Setia’s mission to build communities that “stay together” is what drives their commitment to the #StandTogether campaign.

“When people stay together, all problems can be solved together, and that’s where kindness and loyalty come in,” said Khor.
