RM300,000 for boosting cyber security

ISKANDAR PUTERI: The Johor government has allocated almost RM300,000 this year to enhance cyber security to protect it from any external threats.

State Education, Human Resource, Science and Technology Committee chairman Aminolhuda Hassan said a total of RM294,000 had been allocated to ensure the security of the Johor government database.“This cost involved payment of security software such as Firewall, Web Application Firewall, Intrusion Detection System, and Intrusion Prevention System.

“Secret data can only be accessed by officers given the responsibility for it, while sharing of data, in the concept of data openness, is the state government’s right,” Aminolhuda added.

He said this in reply to Md Ysahrudin Kusni (PH-Bukit Naning) at the state assembly sitting here yesterday.

The Parit Yaani assemblyman also told the assembly that the state government had formed a Computer Emergency Response Team Johor back in 2010.
