EAC suggests review of national education policy

PETALING JAYA: The Economic Action Council (EAC) has proposed for a review in the national education policy to improve the educational system from pre-school to university level.

The Economic Affairs Ministry said the proposal will consider input from all stakeholders and Malaysians at all levels of society.

The fifth EAC meeting was held on Monday (Aug 5) and chaired by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

It also covered suggestions for immediate steps to revitalise business activities, boost domestic investments, and increase household spending.

“This is in line with the government’s efforts to stimulate economic growth and maintain the momentum of growth during an uncertain global economic environment.

“Issues such as home financing, household debt levels and financing for small and medium enterprises were also discussed,” it said in a statement.

The EAC also discussed on the “School Breakfast Programme” to promote a healthy lifestyle amongst students of early schooling age.
