Four Malaysian Airport IT officers lodge report after questioning over KLIA glitch

PETALING JAYA: Four Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) IT officers have lodged police reports to distance themselves from the recent technical glitch at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

The four are believed to be among the 12 called up by police to aid in investigations into the glitch.

It is learned that the four lodged their reports separately between Aug 30 and Sept 3.

When contacted, KLIA OCPD Asst Comm Zulkifli Adamshah confirmed that the reports were made but did not elaborate.

On Tuesday (Sept 3), Utusan Malaysia reported that the four officers had been working for MAHB for 20 years as IT officers and had been suspended while investigations were ongoing.

Citing a source, the Malay daily reported that the four were unhappy with allegations that they sabotaged the system and were now looking at taking legal action.

On Monday (Sept 2), police recorded statements from 12 MAHB staff members, including a woman involved in handling the systems in connection with the disruption.

The case is being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for causing damage through acts of mischief.

The glitch, which was first reported Aug 23, caused flight delays and affected main functions at the airport including WiFi connections, flight information display system, check-in counters and baggage-handling system.
