Honda Malaysia hits 900,000 units sold since 2002

KUALA LUMPUR: Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd celebrated the milestone of selling its 900,000th units since inception in 2002, by throwing a fun-filled two-day extravaganza for all Malaysians last weekend.

One of the key highlights of the day was the handover ceremony of the nine Honda models to lucky customers.

The nine models are Jazz, City, BR-V, HR-V, City Hybrid, HR-V Hybrid, Civic, CR-V and Accord.

“We are very happy to reach such a significant milestone of 900,000th sales unit since our establishment in 2002 and we want to celebrate it with all Malaysians,” Honda Malaysia managing director and chief executive officer Toichi Ishiyama said on Saturday.

“This campaign is made extra special as it is the first time Honda Malaysia collaborated with popular homegrown brands – Astro Radio, Tealive and unifi – to give away the nine cars.

“Throughout the campaign period, we received encouraging feedback and active participation from Malaysians. Over 122,000 participations were received in two months,” he added.

Honda Malaysia introduced the first locally-assembled CR-V in 2003.

The locally-assembled models represent 95 per cent of the company’s sales volume, while the remaining are from full-imported models such as the Odyssey and Civic Type R.

The City is the most popular Honda model to date, taking 33 per cent of the pie, ahead of the HR-V and CR-V at 18 per cent and 14 per cent respectively.

The Road to 900k Grand Finale was held at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium car park, featuring a carnival-like setup with a gigantic 380-feet-long water slide, food and beverages selection from a range of food trucks and “Instagrammable” backdrops.

Visitors were also able to see the preview of the soon-to-be launched, sporty and stylish new Civic, as well as other Honda models.
