DPIM seals agreement to strengthen halal industry training

PORT DICKSON, Dec 9 — The Malaysian Islamic Chamber of Commerce (DPIM) has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Gae Resources Sdn Bhd (GRSB), better known as the Halal Academy to strengthen the online halal industry training program for entrepreneurs.

DPIM President Mohammad Sahar Mat Din said the MOA was to assist rural industry entrepreneurs, especially those under the chamber to obtain halal certification from the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) and further enhance the quality and halal security of their products.

“This initiative is part of the DPIM’s framework plan by 2020 to drive change.

“This is in line with the government’s digitalisation efforts through Entrepreneurs Development Ministry which had allocated RM10 million to focus on advisory services and awareness of halal certification, halal product development as well as to provide a platform for local industries to compete in the international halal market,” he told Bernama.

He was met after attending the DPIM’s dinner last night which was held in conjunction with the chamber’s 26th Annual General Meeting.

Mohammad Sahar and Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, who opened the AGM, witnessed the signing of the agreement.

According to the DPIM president, the MOA was also part of the DPIM’s effort to strengthen the halal economy by becoming co-facilitator with the Halal Academy.

The Negeri Sembilan’s branch of DPIM according to him, would become the pioneer in the joint venture established between the DPIM and Halal Academy.

About 30 state-supported state entrepreneurs would be empowered to obtain halal certification through the 1/2020 Halal Entrepreneur Development program.

Meanwhile, Aminuddin in his speech said, the agenda of the DPIM’s struggle was business jihad, corporate waqf, halal economy, ‘Al Yaadul Ulya’, strategic relations and international mission.

“The DPIM has given birth to a number of successful leaders and entrepreneurs and we are confident that the collective effort of jihad in business will be successful and blessed by Allah S.W.T,” he said. — BERNAMA
