Ministry no longer using RUMAWIP branding for affordable housing matters

PUTRAJAYA (Feb 25): The Federal Territories Ministry no longer uses the RUMAWIP branding in all matters related to affordable housing, after the housing project was rebranded as Residensi Wilayah, said the ministry’s secretary-general Datuk Rosida Jaafar.

She said the ministry had received complaints from the public about fake advertisements offering RUMAWIP housing projects, which was the former abbreviated name for the Federal Territories Affordable Housing Project (RUMAWIP).

“Fraud syndicates offering affordable housing at low prices are using the ministry’s logo and the RUMAWIP logo to confuse buyers.

“The syndicate also issued fake application letters by using the ministry’s letterhead and forged signatures of officers,” she said in a statement today.

Rosida said the ministry had not appointed anyone as agent to apply for the Residensi Wilayah, since it was introduced on April 8, 2013.

She said any application for Residensi Wilayah could only be applied through the official portal https://residensiwilayah.kwp.gov.my/.

“All application matters including correspondence, will be system generated and online. The offer notice will also be sent via email registered by the applicant,” she said.

Rosida said according to the Housing Development (Control and Licensing) Regulations 1989 aimed at protecting the interests of buyers and compliance with regulations under Act 118, developers cannot collect any form of payments from the applicants including commitment fees, before signing a sales and purchase agreement.

She said any complaints regarding the collection of payments could also be submitted directly to the National Housing Department’s Integrated Complaint System at https://aduan.kpkt.gov.my/aduan-online/entry/aduanperumahan.cfm.
