No joint patrols, but association still relays info – Police

JOHOR BAHRU, May 31 — The Community Policing Association is still playing a role in relaying information and complaints related to crime although daily patrols with the police is not feasible following the Movement Control Order (MCO), said Johor Bahru Utara District Police chief ACP Mohd Taib Ahmad.

He said that the association, which is in the administrative area of the Johor Bahru Utara District Police Headquarters (IPD), was constantly in communication with police via social media like Facebook.

“Among the complaints we received from the association were about people gathering in violation of the MCO, criminal activities, public nuisance like playing loud music,” he said today.

Speaking to reporters after receiving a contribution of aquaponics technology from the Taman Desa Community Policing Association at the Johor Bahru Utara IPD, he said the association would usually conduct patrols with the police about three to four times a week.

There are seven such associations under the Johor Bahru Utara IPD. They are the Community Policing Associations of Skudai, Taman Nesa, Taman Ungku Tun Aminah, Danga Utama, Bukit Impian, Skudai Utara and Skudai Barat. — BERNAMA
