Pharmaniaga sees growth opportunity amid Covid-19

KUALA LUMPUR: Pharmaniaga Bhd sees opportunities for growth amid the challenges brough by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Acting managing director Mohamed Iqbal Abdul Rahman said Pharmaniaga had adapted to the new normal in managing the impact of the pandemic.

The company also improved its standard operating procedures to ensure the safety of its human capital as well as the continuity of business operations.

“While there are undoubtedly challenges ahead for the group, we are confident in our ability to capitalise on viable opportunities in the healthcare sector to achieve sustainable growth over the long-term and enhance value for our shareholders,” Mohamed Iqbal said in a statement after Pharmaniaga’s virtual annual general meeting today..

Pharmaniaga, he said, planned to grow the business in areas such as manufacturing as well as its presence in international markets, especially Indonesia.

“Many of our shareholders were keen to find out more about our Halal vaccine project, which includes Covid-19 fill and finish. We will be making a separate announcement on this matter once we have firmed up the relevant details.

“Moving forward, we are projecting improved results in the coming years, particularly given the fact that we were able to complete the accelerated amortisation of PhIS in 2019”, he added.

Chairman Datuk Hafsah Hashim, who chaired its first ever virtual AGM, said she was happy to have interacted with many its shareholders, in keeping with its commitment to adapt to the new normal and observe Covid-19 preventive measures, to ensure the health and safety of our shareholders.

“The interactive session saw all resolutions being passed,” she added.
