Boustead appoints two new board members

KUALA LUMPUR: Boustead Holdings Bhd (BHB) has appointed Tan Sri Abu Bakar Abdullah as an independent non-executive director and Datuk Zurainah Musa as a non-independent non-executive director, effective today.

In a statement released today, the conglomerate said it was pleased to welcome two distinguished individuals to its board.

The group will certainly benefit from their experience and expertise, as it continues its transformation journey, putting the company back in black, it said.

Abu Bakar, 65, has over 30 years of experience in administration and management from the public sector.

Prior to his service as the secretary-general of the Ministry of Defence in 2007, Abu Bakar has held various key positions in various ministries including Deputy Secretary-General in the Federal Territories Ministry, Secretary of Federal Territories Development and Klang Valley Planning in the Prime Minister’s Department, as well as Principal Assistant Secretary of the Armed Forces Council, among other posts.

Abu Bakar holds a Master of Arts in International Studies from the University of Denver, United States, as well as a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in History from the University of Malaya, Malaysia.

Meanwhile, Zurainah, 58, started her illustrious career in 1983 and has since held various senior management positions in organisations based in Malaysia, Australia, United States of America, Indonesia as well as in the Middle East.

She is highly experienced in the fields of Human Resources Management and Development as well as Human Relationship Management.

Zurainah currently sits on the board of several companies namely Berjaya Corp Bhd, UZMA Bhd, and Tioman Island Resort Bhd.

She holds a Master in Business Administration from Berjaya University College of Hospitality, Malaysia; a Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management from University of Newcastle, Australia; as well as other qualifications in the fields of Occupational Health and Safety, and Secretarial Science.
