High end but easy on pocket

Xiaomi’s Mi 10T Pro and Mi 10T come with premium features at affordable prices.

FLAGSHIP smartphones are normally priced above RM3,500, but Xiaomi begs to differ.

Its newly-launched Mi 10T Pro and Mi 10T flagship models come with all the features normally found in high-end phones, but at almost half of the price of competing models.

K.M. Leong, Xiaomi’s regional head of Southeast Asia, said high-specifications do not necessarily come with high prices.

Hence, the Mi 10T is priced at RM1,699 while the Mi 10T Pro costs only RM 1,999, which make them the most affordable smartphones in this premium class currently.

“The Mi 10T Pro and Mi 10T are next-level 5G flagship devices with premium specifications,” he said.

Improved cameras

Both the Mi 10T and the Mi 10T Pro are designed to excel in photography.

For example, the Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro offers an ultra-high resolution 108MP camera, with optical image stabilisation (OIS) and 8K video support, while the Mi 10T offers a 64MP main camera.

Both phones boast a triple camera setup with a 13MP ultra wide-angle camera and 5MP macro camera, and with a 20MP front camera.

Xiaomi has also given a boost to both models with dynamic photography software features, which will make creating complex photo effects as easy as tapping on an icon.

There are six standalone Long exposure modes that give users the ability to capture artsy shots. The moving mode focuses on a subject while blurring dynamic surroundings, while the Star Trails mode creates a swirling starry sky effect.

Other effects include Photo Clones, which captures four shots of the subject in a single shot. The Timed burst feature, meanwhile, offers endless opportunities for fun, allowing users to set up photos with a time gap that can also be converted into video. Three new photo filters, Cyberpunk, Gold Vibes and Black Ice, help bring the desired moods to life.

For video, the Mi 10T Pro and Mi 10T are capable of shooting Video Clones, capturing “two selves” in one video.

The Dual Video function records from the device’s front and back cameras simultaneously, making it ideal for capturing surprise reactions.

Finally, the Time-lapse selfie video lets users create a fast-forward effect for more engaging vlogs.

Displays

The Mi 10T Pro and Mi 10T feature one of the best flat displays available in any smartphone today, with an industry-leading 144Hz refresh rate to boot.

Xiaomi’s AdaptiveSync display automatically matches the content’s frame rate. Users can watch their favourite movie at 48Hz, enjoy a TV series at 50Hz, stream video at 30Hz or 60Hz, and indulge in gaming at up to 144Hz.

A smooth experience and optimum battery usage are guaranteed. With Motion Estimation and Motion Compensation (MEMC) technology, the devices insert more frames to make video smoother.

The P3 colour gamut and TrueColor display offer an extremely wide range of accurate colours.

The phones’ reading mode 3.0 simulates paper texture to protect your eyes. Sunlight display 3.0 automatically enhances contrast and adjusts dynamic colour saturation outdoors.

With a 360-degree ambient light sensor built-in, the screen intelligently adjusts brightness, even in backlit conditions.

Power

The Mi 10T Pro and Mi 10T are able to offer better power efficiency, performance and 5G connectivity with the help of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor.

Users will experience desktop level gaming smoothness, thanks to the Qualcomm Adreno 650 GPU.

Both phones also boast one of Xiaomi’s biggest flagship series batteries at a massive 5,000 mAh that’s paired with battery power optimisation technology.

Charging is exceptionally fast with the included 33W charger.

Availability and prices

Both the Mi 10T and Mi 10T Pro will be initially available in Lunar Silver and Cosmic Black.

The Aurora Blue colour version of the Mi 10T Pro will arrive in Malaysia later this month.

The Mi 10T is priced at RM1,699 for the 8GB + 128GB version, while the Mi 10T Pro costs RM1,999 for the 8GB + 256GB version.

The Mi Watch

Besides the Mi 10T and Mi 10T Pro, Xiaomi also launched the Mi Watch, its first smartwatch model.

As a new addition to its wearable product lineup, the Mi Watch is designed to empower active lifestyles.

Featuring a 1.39-inch bright AMOLED panel and a dedicated sports button on the side, the smartwatch provides users instant access to 117 exercise modes.

It packs six sensors as well as GPS to offer key health metrics and environmental data, for example, heart rate, blood oxygen level, and air pressure.

Ultra light and long-lasting, the device is perfect for continuous everyday use. Two hours of charging will give users an outstanding 16 days of battery life.

Additionally, the Mi Watch supports an array of features including over 100 watch faces, camera remote function, native emojis on notifications and voice control.

Availability of the Mi Watch will be announced later.
