#TECH: Maxis and Team Secret in pact to empower Malaysian gamers

KUALA LUMPUR: Maxis and Team Secret PUBG Mobile Team have announced their continued partnership with a catchy theme, #BikinSampaiJadi as a way to support homegrown talent and encourage future gamers.

Maxis’ head of brand and marketing Tai Kam Leong said Malaysia is home to one of the biggest gaming markets in Southeast Asia and has grown significantly in the last year.

“We are thrilled to be part of the growth of e-sports through our collaboration with Team Secret, which aims to empower and inspire the gaming community to #BikinSampaiJadi with a formula that combines passion and the best network,” he said.

“Their energy and dedication to lifting Malaysia in the global e-sports arena continues to motivate us, and by leveraging both our strengths, we want to help to grow Malaysia into a major e-sports hub by cultivating world-class Malaysian talent and to enable them to Always Be Ahead,” he added.

Team Secret’s chief executive officer John Yao, meanwhile, said the past year has been exciting for Team Secret, as the team introduced new line-ups, tactics as well as our recent achievement, finishing 7th place in the Global Championship.

“Our commitment remains the same, which is to build the e-sports community with a focus to cultivate a positive culture in team-based e-sports. We would like to thank Maxis for sharing the same ambition and supporting us in equipping and enabling the team with the best devices and connectivity,” he said.

Fans can have the opportunity to meet and play with Team Secret’s new team lineup and win exciting prizes via Hotlink Facebook on March 11, at 9 pm.

Meanwhile, Maxis will be launching an eight-episode series of “Kelas #BikinSampaiJadi Bersama Team Secret” from April 16 where it comprises insights, analysis, strategies from previous professional gamers’ points of view, coaches, and analysts to equip gamers to view and play the game better.

“We want to grow Malaysia’s e-sports scene by cultivating world-class Malaysian talent and enabling them to Always Be Ahead,” said Tai.

“As we finished 7th in the Global Championships, we’re very excited to introduce tremendous new talents and players. We not only want to win the country championship and represent Malaysia on the regional scale, but we also want to win the world championship and ultimately want to put Malaysia at the top,” Yao said.

Maxis has been the sponsor of Team Secret PUBG Mobile Malaysia since 2019 and while leveraging Maxis’ capabilities as Malaysia’s number 1 Network and Team Secret as the renowned pro gaming organisation.

Recently, Team Secret PUBG Mobile Team has been qualified for the PUBG Mobile Global Championship Finals on their success emerging in 7th place as Malaysia’s best performing PUBG Mobile team.
