Sand Nisko buys Melaka land for a mixed residential project

Rubberwood furniture maker Sand Nisko Capital Bhd (SNC) is expanding its property development business and is acquiring 25.9 acres of freehold land in Alor Gajah, Melaka for a mixed residential project.

SNC managing director Emily Sow Mei Chet said the land is matured and ready for development thus making it a good opportunity for expansion.

“We have diversified into the property development, construction, and property investment business since last year, and the latest acquisition could help propel us forward in the property development business,” she said in a statement.

SNC’s wholly-owned subsidiary Len Cheong Resources (LCR) Sdn Bhd has entered into a sale and purchases agreement with plantation firm and hotel operator Cempakaraya Sdn Bhd for the proposed acquisition for RM5.8 million.

Sow said the acquisition of the land will mark a turnaround for SNC which has seen its furniture manufacturing and trading division struggling amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The acquisition is timely as we approach the tail-end of the pandemic. This latest development would help to escalate the turnaround plans for SNC and expand its construction and property development business,” she said.
