New Unifi Home 100Mbps plan offers set-top-box and access to all channels for RM159

Earlier this year, Telekom Malaysia (TM) announced that it would stop providing the Unifi set-top-box to new Unifi Home subscribers.

As stated on its website, the company decided on the move because it believed that “consumer nowadays prefer to consume content at their own convenient time via their own smart devices”.

So subscribers were expected to access Unifi TV (formerly known as HyppTV) content via the Unifi PlayTV app on Android and iOS.

It looks like TM has had a change of heart – a new promotion, as seen on its website, includes a set-top-box for those who subscribe to the Unifi Home 100Mbps (megabits per second) package.

“Our Unifi offerings are always designed with different customer needs in mind. While the nation gradually adopts a digital lifestyle, we understand that some customers still want to enjoy their favourite content through conventional means.

“That is why we have introduced a new, limited time only package,” shared a TM spokesperson.

The package also includes Unifi PlayTV ultimate pack, giving users access to all channels on Unifi TV, including Fox Movies, live sports, Korean dramas, as well as access to The Star’s dimsum and BBC Player app.

Priced at RM159 a month, the special offer also includes 600 minutes of talk time to all mobile and fixed lines nationwide, as well as free wireless router and modem.

However, this package is only available until May 31 and subscribers will be tied to a 24-month contract.

The FAQ states that those who purchase or upgrade to this package will enjoy the promotional price even after the contract ends instead of the actual price of RM189.

Those who upgrade will have their contract renewed – it doesn’t matter if they are within or beyond the contract period.

New subscribers can also choose the Unifi Home Basic Plan 30Mbps at RM79 a month or the Unifi Home 100Mbps (without the set-top-box and full access to Unifi TV) at RM129 per month.
